I Tested the Tenvels Nova and the Controller Nearly Ruined It
The Tenvels Nova enters the growing e-bike market with a lot of promise. On paper, it offers an attractive combination of power, modern styling, and features that appeal to both commuters and recreational riders. But as every experienced reviewer knows, specifications only tell part of the story.
After spending time riding and testing the Tenvels Nova, I found plenty to like—but I also discovered one issue that had a significant impact on the overall riding experience. Surprisingly, it wasn’t the motor, battery, brakes, or suspension. The biggest problem came from the bike’s controller, and it changed the way the bike performed in everyday riding.

The Tenvels Nova highlights exactly why real-world testing matters. Looking at the specification sheet alone wouldn’t reveal how much the controller influences the overall ride.

If Tenvels addresses the controller behavior through future updates or revisions, the Nova has the potential to become a much stronger competitor. The bike already offers a comfortable platform with solid components, but the riding experience needs to match the quality of the hardware.

The Tenvels Nova isn’t a bad e-bike. In fact, it has many qualities that make it appealing.
What ultimately held it back during my testing wasn’t a lack of power or poor construction—it was the way the controller managed the bike’s performance. It’s a great example of why hands-on reviews are so valuable. Real-world riding often reveals issues that simply don’t show up on a product page.
