Strutt EV1 Range Test: How Much Farther Can Range Mode Go?
When manufacturers publish range estimates, they’re usually measured under ideal conditions. Flat roads, controlled speeds, and perfect weather rarely reflect how people actually use their mobility devices every day.
That’s why I wanted to answer a simple but important question:
How much farther can the Strutt EV1 travel in Range Mode compared to Co-Pilot Mode?
Instead of relying on laboratory numbers, I put the Strutt EV1 through a real-world distance test to see how its intelligent driving modes affect battery life and overall performance.

Co-Pilot Mode activates the EV1’s intelligent obstacle detection system, helping prevent collisions by automatically slowing or stopping when obstacles are detected. Depending on the version, Co-Pilot+ can also assist with steering through tight spaces, making navigation easier in crowded indoor environments.
For many riders, these safety features provide additional confidence during everyday use.
Range Mode
Range Mode takes a different approach.
Rather than powering the EV1’s full sensor suite, it prioritizes efficiency by reducing energy consumption. According to Strutt, enabling Range Mode disables the evSense system temporarily so more battery capacity is available for driving, extending overall range.
This mode is especially useful for longer trips where maximizing distance is more important than advanced driver assistance.
Putting the EV1 to the Test
To see how much difference these modes actually make, I rode the Strutt EV1 in real-world conditions instead of relying on manufacturer estimates.
The goal wasn’t simply to measure maximum mileage.
I wanted to understand how each mode would perform during the kind of everyday driving owners actually experience.
Throughout the test, I monitored:

That doesn’t mean Co-Pilot Mode is the wrong choice.

With Co-Pilot enabled, you’re benefiting from intelligent obstacle detection and driver assistance that can make navigation easier and more relaxing. With Range Mode, you’re prioritizing maximum distance for longer outings.
Neither mode is objectively better—they simply serve different purposes.
Which Mode Should You Use?
The answer depends on how you use your Strutt EV1.
Choose Co-Pilot Mode if you:

- Prefer the extra confidence of intelligent driving assistance

Choose Range Mode if you:
